We’ve mentioned the venue and the atmosphere that is evident here in the beautiful valley of Lorton, near Cockermouth in the Lake District. Now let us tell you a little bit about the subtle touches, which make a huge difference to reaching the perfect day you are seeking.
From the moment you arrive in Lorton, you and your guests will experience nothing but pleasure. Mark and Jacqui at ‘The Wheatsheaf’ pub (a minutes walk from Winder hall) will happily provide soup, beer and sandwiches before the ceremony for your guests – an ideal way for everyone to gather before the service.
Many of our guests decide to start the celebrations early by having a small family dinner in the dining room the night before. This allows your guests to get a feel for the hotel, and once the big day arrives, everyone is familiar with the surroundings which helps create a relaxing and enjoyable feel.
To start the day off perfectly, we offer a bountiful breakfast in our oak paneled dining room for you, so you can enjoy the quality cuisine for which Winder Hall is renowned. We have just been awarded the AA Breakfast and Dining Award, and constantly strive to make sure we live up to this! You get a true taste of what the local Lake District has to offer.
As the wedding reception is a really important part of the day, we make sure that everything runs smoothly and to the approval of all your guests. We can serve drinks ranging from Pimms or fun cocktails to Champagne, whilst you discover the fascinating setting of Winder Hall.
Although we specialize in smaller, intimate weddings here at Winder Hall, our spacious grounds allow us to hold marquee receptions after your ceremony. So if it’s a big wedding you’re after; big it will be. Just let us know in advance as this helps make it extra perfect and gives us both time to make sure everything is delivered to pin point perfection. We all know that entertainment is really important and one thing we make sure at Winder Hall is that every second has something special to offer. We have established strong contacts with many different entertainment options such as; Jazz Trio, String Quartet, Soul Band, Big Bands or even Caelidhs. If none of these are to your taste, then simply let us know and we will help you find the perfect option for your big day. We can organize your entertainment to your own preference or if you wish, you can provide this yourself. As long as you are happy, then so are we!
To compliment the entertainment, it would only be fair to offer the finest food you are ever likely to taste. So, that’s exactly what we do. Now that the wedding day has been everything you could ever have imagined, it is still not time to say goodbye. Our venue is one of those places where once arriving, you never want to leave. So, because of this, we offer guests the chance to extend their time here and spend their honeymoon in our finest and luxurious four poster room. With a mixture of traditional and modern features, along with spectacular views of the surrounding fells and natural beauty, this is something truly special which completes the ideal wedding experience.
If you decide to book Winder Hall for your exclusive and intimate wedding venue, you can share the magical weekend with close friends and family who can stay at the hotel with you. Even if you require more than 12 of your guests to share your wonderful experience, we can make sure that all of your guests stay closely within the area and that their experience is as identical as possible.
