Winder Hall Hotel Lorton near Buttermere in the Lake District Cumbria.
Nestling in the North West of the Lakes, Lorton Vale is one of Lakeland’s most peaceful valleys. Protected by the surrounding hills from nature’s extremes, the valley has been cultivated since ancient times creating today’s landscape of velvet pasture and mature woodland. At the foot of the valley lies the pretty market town of Cockermouth whilst the majestic Buttermere and Grasmoor Fells stand at its head. The tourist centre of Keswick and five of the National Park’s lakes are within a fifteen minute drive.

From the M6, Junction 40, follow the A66 to Keswick (journey time approx. 20 minutes from the M6). One mile past Keswick, take the B2592 sign-posted Braithwaite and the Whinlatter Pass. The B2592 will take you into High Lorton (5 miles). Take the B5289 sign-posted Buttermere and enter Low Lorton. Winder Hall is 50 yards from The Wheatsheaf pub (journey time approx. 15 minutes from Keswick). Winder Hall Hotel is marked as ‘Hall’ or ‘Lorton Hall’ on OS maps (GR153257).
